HockeyTown?

I know you San Diego sports fans find the ice a very foreign place. In fact, anytime I try and chat up "sports fans" on hockey in this town you often draw blank stares unless you are speaking with a Chicago, Philly or NY transplant. Being from CO, I have an appreciation for the game on skates but after trying it last week I have a greater understanding of the obsession.

Padres player Matt Stairs was kind enough to give me a hockey lesson 101 as a native Canadian and avid hockey player. Let me tell you this- I was a quick study (according to Coach Stairs). Stairs is a heck of a hockey player. No joke. The guy may be 42 years old but he still has a future in the NHL. Check it out for yourself.

Love the face plant Jenny! You're picking up some awesome hockey skills! I'd expect a little more from a CO native...although I'm not sure I'd be much better! Hope you're doing well!

So Jenny, were you an attacker, middie or defense when you played lax?

I played mid-field. I was a Defensive Wing... but I loved being on offense too. Had the best of both worlds
